“Alix has taught me so much about my scoliosis.

Learning how to adapt yoga to my specific curve enables me to do all yoga postures but with a specific ‘twist’. The mental image I now have of my back helps me move in ways beneficial to my back.

Best of all, Alix teaches with humor, knowledge, and compassion. Life is great now that I can practice yoga again!!

Scoliosis is no longer a burden; rather a gift.” –Carmen S

Discover the role yoga can play in creating awareness, relieving pain, and restoring a sense of balance to the body.

Having a few days to practice together will allow for greater continuity to receive the modifications and adjustments learned in the yoga for scoliosis and backcare practice.

Alix Northup, Retreat Facilitator

Alix began her path of yoga as a teenager when her mom brought her to a yoga class as an alternative treatment for her scoliosis. The practice has stayed with her for over twenty years.

She draws from her own experience of finding balance in her body and mind to assist others on their own unique path of yoga and healing.

Having taught several local weekend retreats as well as international retreats in Nepal and Costa Rica, Alix believes in the importance of retreats.

Retreats provide an opportunity to go deeper into the practice and allow for more continuity of learning the modifications specific to scoliosis as well as allowing the nervous system to unwind deeper layers of held tension.
